Industrial Incubator Facility
The Incubator Facility, owned and operated by the Watertown Promotive Corp., ( a subsidiary of the Chamber of Commerce) offers space to companies in start-up mode or those who are in need of extra space but are not yet ready to expand their facilities. Reasonable rates and flexible terms help to foster business growth.
The Promotive Corporation was founded in 1945 by a group of local businessmen who pooled their own resources to help a local Shoe Factory re-tool in the face of competition. As the loan was repaid the money was reinvested in other companies and in the purchase of land for industrial expansion.
In time, economic development departments and the Chamber Office took the place of the original Economic Development work of the Promotive Corp and it focused its efforts on the operation of a modest incubator facility for new start-up companies.
