Bridget Van Ert
I was born here in Watertown at St. Mary’s Hospital, which is now the site of River View Assisted living on Main Street. At the age of 2, I was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, which I continue to struggle with today. Luckily, thanks to great rheumatologists and medications, I am able to live my life fully and without major setbacks.
I grew up with my 5 brothers and sisters in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School, which was then located in the YMCA building. In High School I worked at Shopko and also waitressed at Steve’s Amber Lantern, which is now the Rose Garden Restaurant. I then went to Whitewater and graduated with a degree in business and marketing. During college, I was granted a marketing internship here in Watertown at Eaton Corporation for a summer and conducted their customer satisfaction survey. I met my husband in Whitewater, when I was on a foosball league. He put his quarters on the table to play against me. I won the game but he said it was his best investment ever because he ended up marrying me, ha ha!
Once I graduated, I worked in Brookfield and Milwaukee for years at Transamerica Financial Services and Landmark Credit Union. My husband and I then bought our first home on Water Street here in Watertown. I left my career in Milwaukee, and worked at M&I Bank for 16 years. I was a branch manager there and three years ago I became the branch manager of Bank of Lake Mills in Watertown, where I am today.
I currently live on the east side of Watertown with my husband and have two sons, Mitchell and Mason. Mitchell followed in his mother’s footsteps and is attending Whitewater. Mason will be a senior at the high school next year. I love to travel, cook, watch sports, golf, and spend time with my family and friends.
