WBD, Inc.'s mission is to assist small businesses in gaining access to capital to facilitate their growth, create jobs, and build communities. The cornerstone of WBD's success lies in providing access to the SBA 504 loan product, which is available exclusively from not-for-profit Certified Development Companies (CDC). This loan supports the U.S. Small Business Administration’s (SBA) public policy objective to aid small businesses and generate jobs within communities through long-term, fixed-rate financing.
Since its inception in 1981, WBD has successfully funded over 2,500 businesses, leading to the creation of more than 65,000 jobs across Wisconsin and Minnesota. WBD consistently ranks among the top ten most active CDCs in the country, participating in hundreds of projects annually with lenders in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan, thereby serving as an integral hub in each project.
The WBD Service Company was established to offer direct services to lenders and external customers, including credit underwriting, application processing, and portfolio servicing. The staff at WBDSC is well-versed in a variety of loan fund programs administered by the SBA, the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, and other agencies.
