Watertown Players Announce Auditions for “Leaving Iowa”

The Watertown Players are pleased to announce auditions for the 2026-2027 season-opening production, Leaving Iowa. The show is written by Tim Clue and Spike Manton and is being produced in partnership with Dramatic Publishing Company. The show will be performed at the Watertown Players Theater September 25-27 and October 2-4. The show is being directed by Jim Steffl and produced by Elizabeth Boxell. Any questions regarding the audition or the show itself should be emailed to the director at jim@watertownplayers.org.

Auditions will be held at the theater (210 S. Water St, in The Market) on Saturday, August 1, from 9:00- 11:00 am. No prior acting experience is required. No special preparation is needed and auditioners will be asked to read from the script. To sign up for auditions, please go to https://signup.com/go/fbwVYRX .

Sign-up is encouraged but not required - walk-ins are always welcome! If you are unable to audition on August 1, please contact the director at the above email address to arrange a date and time beforehand.
There are roles for 6 adults —3 females and 3 males. Rehearsals are tentatively planned for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings at the theater.

Leaving Iowa is a comedy centered around Don Browning, a middle-aged writer, who returns home and decides to finally take his father's ashes to his childhood home, as requested. But when Don discovers
Grandma's house is now a grocery store, he begins traveling across Iowa searching for a proper resting place for his father. This father-and-son road trip shifts smoothly from the present to Don's memories of
the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood in the old station wagon with his mom and sister.

There is always something happening at the theater! The classic drama Our Town by Thornton Wilder will be performing in mid-August. Tickets on sale soon! For further information about the group, please
