The Watertown Players are pleased to announce auditions for the Annual Holiday Show at the Octagon House, A Babes In Toyland Christmas. This show is an adaptation of the operetta created by Victor Herbert and Glen MacDonough, adapted by Watertown Players founder William Jannke III.

The show will be performed at the Octagon House Museum, 919 Charles St , Watertown on Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday November 28 and Sunday November 29, 2026. The show is being directed by Annette Weirick. Any questions about auditions or the show should be emailed

Auditions will be held at the Watertown Players Theater, 210 S. Water St., Watertown, WI 53094 on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9:00 am. to 12:00 pm Those wishing to audition should sign up in advance at this link: https://signup.com/go/pOOkzHC . Everyone is welcome to audition and acting experience is not needed to perform in the show. The cast has roles for teens and elementary school aged performers as well as roles available for adults as well.

A Babes In Toyland Christmas tells the story of Tom-Tom the Piper’s son and Mary -Mary Quite Contrary, who want to be married, however Mary is not yet of age. Her guardian, the wily Silas Barnaby, has forbidden the marriage because he wants to keep Mary’s sizable inheritance for himself. Tom and Mary plan to go to the ruler of Toyland, Mother Goose, to present their dilemma in hopes of her intervention. But Silas Barnaby plans to trick Tom into leaving Toyland , and once Tom leaves, he can never return and the wedding will not occur. In the story Mother Goose, Little Bo Peep and Jack and Jill all try to help Tom and Mary, but it may take Santa Claus himself to save the day. A Babes in Toyland Christmas is a charming story with a bit of melodrama thrown in for excitement, with a happy ending for all (except Silas Barnaby).
