Watertown Regional Medical Center’s Caitlin Rondello Named Finalist for Monarch Caring and Community Award
Annual award honors ScionHealth’s most exceptional caregivers at its specialty and community hospitals across the country
WATERTOWN, WI – Watertown Regional Medical Center is thrilled to announce Caitlin Rondello, registered dietitian and diabetes educator, was named a finalist for ScionHealth’s most prestigious award, the Monarch Caring and Community Award. She was nominated amongst many deserving candidates from WRMC because of her work and commitment to helping diabetic patients get and stay healthier.
The Monarch Award is ScionHealth’s highest annual award to honor its exceptional caregivers. It recognizes exceptional, highly skilled caregivers who consistently go above and beyond to deliver excellent patient care and to elevate the patient experience.
As a registered dietitian and diabetes educator, Caitlin always puts her patient’s needs first. She was initially nominated for the Monarch Award by co-worker Karen Lucey, Director of Primary Care, because of her work with diabetic patients in primary care.
“Caitlin has been instrumental in helping our patient base by introducing continuous glucose monitoring devices and working with the primary care providers and staff to significantly decrease the number of patients who do not meet their A1C number,” said Karen.” In doing this, she is not only helping our community get healthier but also improving the quality of care we provide.”
In addition to being an outpatient diabetic educator, Caitlin also works with inpatients who have been newly diagnosed or are struggling with diabetes and all patients looking to improve their nutrition for many different reasons. She does a great job of following-up with patients, at all hours of the day, who need additional guidance or patients who need to know that someone is with them during their journey to a healthier life.
“One of Caitlin’s biggest strengths is her ability to empower patients and help them set their own goals,” said Lisa Crogan, Director of Rehab, Sports Medicine, and Wellness and Caitlin’s boss. “She is one of those people who comes to work, does the best she can in the time that she has, all based around what is best for her patients.”
Caitlin's exceptional work was highlighted by her recent journey to ScionHealth’s corporate headquarters in Louisville, KY, where she represented WRMC at the prestigious Caregiver Summit. This summit offers conferences and breakout sessions for Monarch Award nominees from ScionHealth hospitals across the country and is an opportunity to celebrate their contributions to the company.
“One of the best parts about my trip was the opportunity to connect with other caregivers from hospitals across the country and learn more about what they do,” said Caitlin. “It was also great to meet leaders at ScionHealth and learn more about our values as a company.”
Based in Lousiville, ScionHealth operates 79 hospital campuses in 25 states. This includes 61 long-term acute care hospitals and 18 community hospitals like Watertown Regional Medical Center. Their purpose is to empower the hands that heal to do what they do best.
During the conference, Renae Patterson the Director of Environmental Services at Andalusia Health in Alabama was announced as the 2023 Community Hospital Monarch Award winner.
