Thank you to those who have given so far to our Welcome Wagon Bags! The Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce is beyond excited to be the sole chamber representative in the Welcome Wagon booklet that gets delivered to all new deed owners in Reeseville, Lake Mills, Watertown, Johnson Creek, Sullivan, Helenville and Jefferson!!!
We need your help! Each new resident to one of the previously mentioned communities will receive a booklet with information. In that booklet will be a coupon for their welcome bag. It is our role at the chamber to collect goodies for our new residents in all of those communities. What a great way to welcome people and to make sure they know about your business!!
Please consider donating swag to our office to be included in our Welcome Wagon Bags!! We are asking for donations of about 50-75 items.
Take a look at the territory covered for our Welcome Wagon market! Wow!!
Leadership Watertown is a tuition-based program offered by the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce to its members and their employees.
The mission of Leadership Watertown is to develop a core group of dedicated leaders and educate them on the opportunities and needs of Watertown, with a focus on project management and personal leadership skills.
Leadership Watertown runs from August through May and is divided into two segments: class time and a team project. Class time occurs each month and consists of a combination of speakers, tours, and demonstrations that familiarize students with the community. The team project consists of a community service project selected by the Leadership Board.
Applications are being accepted now. The application is available at www.watertownchamber.com. Click the button “Forms & Applications” and click on the Leadership Application. You may also pick up an application at the chamber office during regular hours.

Please read the following information provided by the Breastfeeding Coalition of Jefferson County:
Each year, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action coordinates World Breastfeeding Week August 1st – 7th. The Breastfeeding Coalition of Jefferson County is taking this opportunity to remind businesses that in Wisconsin, mothers have a right to breastfeed.
WI State Statute 253.16
“A mother may breastfeed her child in any public or private location where the mother and child are otherwise authorized to be. In such a locations, no person may prohibit a mother from breastfeeding her child, direct a mother to move to another location to breastfeed her child, direct a mother to cover her child or breast while breastfeeding, or otherwise restrict a mother from breastfeeding. “
Mothers are often discriminated against for breastfeeding while they are out shopping for their families and eating in restaurants supporting local businesses. Fear of this harassment interferes with mothers’ efforts to feed their babies the best way as recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and others.
Some tips for helping employees respond to a customer who expresses a concern about a woman breastfeeding in public include:
