Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors since 2015
Graduate of Leadership Watertown Class (2008)
Leadership Watertown Board Member (2008-2014)
I attended the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire where I received my bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration. Following graduation, I obtained my Nursing Home Administrator license and started out in the long-term care industry as a Business Office Manager of a skilled nursing facility in the Milwaukee area and later as the Executive Director of that same facility.
I was the Administrator at Heritage Homes in Watertown for 10 years. During my time there, Heritage Homes was the Chamber’s “Service Professional Business of the Year” in 2010 and the EPIC award winner in 2015.
In 2016, I joined my husband, Brian, to work in health insurance. We were blessed to form Drehm Insurance Agency, LLC in 2021 with our business partner, Melissa Draeger, to better serve our clients and agents. We primarily focus on health insurance, specializing in Medicare. While most of our clients live in Jefferson, Dodge and the surrounding counties, we also help people in the entire state of Wisconsin, Illinois, Arizona, Florida and Texas!
Brian and I live in Lake Mills with our two boys Ben (13) and Ryan (8). We also own and manage an apartment complex in Jefferson. We are licensed foster parents, but we currently do not have any children placed with us. In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, reading, yoga and volunteering with the youth ministries in our church.
I love being a part of the Chamber. The Chamber plays an integral part in ensuring that our communities are a place where businesses and residents can thrive!
Dr. Leslie M Golden at Watertown Family Practice has been certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM) as an ABOM diplomate. Dr. Golden is one of only 88 ABOM diplomates in the state of Wisconsin. ABOM diplomates are physicians who undergo rigorous training in obesity medicine and an extensive examination process to achieve this designation.
The American Board of Obesity Medicine serves the public and the field of obesity medicine by maintaining standards for assessment and credentialing physicians. Certification as an ABOM diplomate signifies specialized knowledge in the practice of obesity medicine and distinguishes a physician as having achieved competency in obesity care. Currently, there are more than 5,800 ABOM diplomates throughout the United States and Canada.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 42 percent of U.S. adults cope with obesity, which is associated with a higher risk for heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stroke and other musculoskeletal and vascular problems. Obesity has been officially recognized as a disease by the American Medical Association since 2013.
Dr. Golden uses her medical expertise in combination with her graduate level training in behavior change to help patients manage the disease of obesity and prevent the many diseases associated with it. She is accepting new patients that are interested in improving their weight health.
Leadership Watertown strives to develop a corps of informed, committed, and qualified individuals capable of and willing to provide dynamic leadership in the Watertown area.
Over the next several newsletters you will learn more about each member of this year's Leadership Watertown Class.
This newsletter we are highlighting Sue Trepte with the Haus of Peace
We moved to Watertown in 1992. I am Married to John for 41 years. We have three children Stephanie 40, she is married 14 years to Sam Schieber. They have a daughter who is 11 and her name is Imogen. They currently live in Johnson creek. Our son Phil was 23 years old when he passed away in 2013. He left behind a daughter Olivia who is 11. Julia is our youngest she is 28 years old. She has a free spirit and she lives in L.A. Our daughters have grown up, to be smart independent women. They have traveled the world, and they are highly successful in everything they do.
I have a colorful history. I was a youth leader and women’s leader in our church. I have gone on many mission trips. My favorite was India, and Africa. I am a retired lunch lady from the Watertown Unified School district. I retired in 2014 after working 18 years cooking for the children of Watertown. John and I were foster parents for 10 years, we have had 50 children cross our door. I also did retail work, was the director of a day care and managed a flower shop. I also was a part of the board for The Watertown Players for many years. God has called John and I to be the Inn Keepers. We take care of those who are lost and broken. at the Haus of Peace
I am considered a philanthropist, I volunteer a service for homeless and abused women and children. This does enhance our community. We strive to encourage our women to be strong and to be an advocate for themselves and their children. We provide programs and education for our women to overcome homelessness, abuse and their trauma . This is all on an individual basis. When all is said and done, they are breaking the cycle of abuse.
We have researched that mental health is the common denominator to homeless and abuse. We have collaborated with two mental health care clinics and their clinician’s. They provide individual services and facilitate our mental health care workshops. We work with our women to gain employment within 10 days, Our women do the things they need to do to gain strength and independence. Goals are set and succeeded very week.
We have teams of people who volunteer their services to our women. Our volunteers share and teach their gifts and talents to our women and families. There is a wide range of need and we are looking for those who are compassionate and can lead. We have a business woman, who is mentoring a house guest who desires to be a business owner. We have collaborated with a law firm to provide wisdom when our women are fighting for custody for their children from their abusers.
I speak for our team, in saying this is our passion, this is a life changing journey for us and our house guests. Through our faith we have grown to walk in obedience to be the hands and feet of Christ.
