Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member since 2017
I was raised on the east-side of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where my father was a professor at UW-Milwaukee, and my mother worked in human resources for the healthcare industry. I attended UW-Madison where I studied English Education and graduated with my Bachelor of Science. After my graduation I moved to McHenry, Illinois, where I worked as a high school English teacher.
In 1997 I moved back to the Milwaukee area to take a job teaching English at Nathan Hale High School, in West Allis, Wisconsin. I wanted to get back to Wisconsin and Packer fans, and I wanted to be closer to my future husband – also a high school English teacher. While teaching I worked to complete my Master of Science Degree in Administrative Leadership at UW-Milwaukee. In 1999 I married my husband Tom, and shortly after that I was promoted to serve as an assistant principal at Nathan Hale High School.
In 2004, I accepted the position of Principal at West Bend East High School in West Bend, Wisconsin where I served until 2011. While serving as Principal, I attended Marquette University to complete my Superintendent Licensure. In 2011, I accepted the position of Superintendent of Schools for the Watertown Unified School District. While serving as Superintendent, I completed my Doctorate in Education Policy and Leadership Analysis at UW-Madison. It has been my great honor and privilege to serve the Watertown community in this capacity over the past eleven years.
My husband and I have three children – 15, 18, and 20. All of our children attended school in the Watertown Unified School District, and they are all very active in their schools and community. I strongly believe in giving back to my community, and over the years I have served in many community roles including President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Washington County, and I am currently serving as the President of the Watertown Rotary. I also serve on the Watertown Library Board of Trustees and the Transformational Council for the Greater Watertown Community Health Foundation
With three children in school and activities, my family is always busy! When we aren’t at wrestling tournaments and baseball games, we love to take family road trips traveling together all over the state and the country. We also love supporting all of our local sports teams from the Goslings to the Badgers to the Packers.

With a recent move back to Wisconsin after living in Michigan and Texas, Josiah is looking forward to establishing himself in the Watertown community. He and his wife, Charis, enjoy reconnecting with family and life-long friends in the area, taking walks at Oconomowoc Lake, and attending community events.

Leadership Watertown strives to develop a corps of informed, committed, and qualified individuals capable of and willing to provide dynamic leadership in the Watertown area.
Leadership Watertown is a dedicated group of the members of this community, giving our time and talents to educate others why Watertown was and continues to be a great place to work, visit and live.
In partnership with the City of Watertown and the Watertown Area Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Watertown is raising funds to erect a “wayfinding pillar” with the goal of initiating a series of such pillars throughout the community. This pillar will be placed along a soon-to-be constructed section of the Riverwalk next to the new Town Square. Located on the Rock River, this space will soon be a gathering place for everyday enjoyment and events. It will be a busy activity center for concerts, markets, children’s programs, and more. To learn more about this program or to donate please contact Alex Allon, Development Coordinator for the City of Watertown AAllon@CityofWatertown.org
